Someone tried Click-Bombing on this blog

You might have noticed that I don’t have adsense on this site anymore. I removed that yesterday when someone did click-bombing on this blog.

Adsense had a maintenance yesterday and after that the stats there were taking time in getting fixed.
So I was like checking my adsense stats after every hour or two and while going through them I suddenly noticed that this blog (xubair.com) has some weird stats, 83 impressions and 42 clicks with zero earnings. The CTR was over 50. That was very strange so I thought of mailing adsense people and tell them about it but then I was like no I should ask someone first if I should contact adsense for this so made a thread on digitalpoint. Everyone who replied there asked me to contact adsense and some of them said that there must be something wrong with your stats, they will be fixed up in sometime.

Anyways, I then emailed adsense and removed the ads from blog. They have not replied yet. As
soon as I receive their reply. I’ll let you guys know about it.

P.S – Here is the screenshot of those weird stats

Adsense Sucks ?

I could never even think of thinking =P that adsense sucks *4 months back*.

But now a days it does make me think that it is almost dead for the sites having Asian traffic.

If I was making 25$ with 400 clicks 4 months back, now I need 800 clicks to have that money in my pocket. Many of my sites are not making even 0.01/click, yeah you have *read* it right =P I played alot with the ads like decreasing the number of ad units removing link units and much more but nothing worked, nothing could increase the CPC. I even mailed adsense support about the low CPC and as always they replied with their smart answers and asked me to go through the optimization tips.

So can we do something about it ?

NO – I tried many ads, many cpm based networks some affiliate programs and much more but nothing works for these bloody *Asian* sites. So you have to end up adding adsense code on these sites after trying those fucking cpm based ad networks.  What you can do is NEVER think of making a site for *Asian traffic* =P

Conclusion – Adsense SUCKS but it is still the BEST  !! =P

Big Guns of Pakistan

This is just a random post in which I’d be writing about the Pakistani web-makers/webmasters/bloggers who are making some good money online.

Jagdesh Pahuja

He is the founder/owner/admin of PakWheels.Com. Alexa ranking of Pakwheel.Com is 12,340 and has 90% of the traffic from Pakistan making it the 74th most visited site of Pakistan. Jagdesh not only owns PakWheels.Com but has got many other sites under his name aswell. I beleive he has the largest number of sites owned by a Pakistani guy and he must be making something around 1000$/day.

Tayyab Javed

The guy behind FunMaza, FunMaza is a very famous entertainment portal of South Asia with alexa of 3091. If someone has access to Internet in Pakistan, he must be knowing about FunMaza. Tayyab also has a good network of websites and he might own songs.pk aswell, I am not sure about that though.

Anyways, even if he does not own songs.pk he is still making something around 350-500$/day.

and yes he has bought all the good domain names you can think of in .PK =P

Hassan

ApniISP guy, ApniISP.Com is another very famous portal of Pakistan. ApniISP is the most famous local website in Pakistan. Its alexa rank is 3651 and around 72% of its traffic comes from Pakistan making it the 24th most visited site of Pakistan but its not that big when you talk about money. I dont know but for some reason Hassan is not able to monetize site that well. He has kept site so neat & clean but there is not point of keeping site neat and clean if you are not making good money with it. He has also not expanded his network and owns only 2-3 sites only other than apniisp.

Inspite of all that, he would be making atleast 100$/day.

I guess these three are enough for today, I’ll write about more soon =P

P.S – The earnings mentioned in my post are completely my own judgement (through my experience with adsense and other publisher networks) and are not confirmed.

Pagerank Update ?

Yeah guys, there is a PR update going on. I was expecting it next week but it seems that Google was very QUICK this time. I have not seen changes in all of my sites but one of my sites has seen decrease in Pagerank and its gone to ’2′ from ’3′. So for now, this 2008 Q1 PR Update has brought nothing good for me. Lets see if it brings something good before Google finalizes those Pageranks. I would come up with more stuff on that today or tomorrow. By that time, you guys can participate in on going disscussion about it at DigitalPoint.

Bill Gates Announces Retirement

Bill Gates, The Microsoft Chairman has announced RETIREMENT at on-going Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. After mid-2008, he’ll leave the chairmanship and would start focusing on his Gates Foundation and its fight again Disease. People will associate his name with Computers for Centuries.

This is how TimesOnline has reported the event

Bill Gates, who built his fortune equipping the personal computer, predicts that the keyboard and mouse will soon become relics.

The founder of Microsoft Corp used his swansong to the technology industry on Sunday to spell out a vision of a “digital decade” of telephones, televisions and cars that respond to voice and touch.

“This is the area that people underestimate the most,” he said. Mr Gates, who plans to retire from day-to-day operations at Microsoft in July to oversee his $37 billion (£18 billion) charitable foundation, gave a keynote address to a packed 3,500-seat Las Vegas ballroom at the world’s largest consumer electronics show.

He predicted that high-definition video “will be everywhere” from TV to wall projections to screens built into desks. Users will be able to roam in 3-D through virtual worlds when they shop or interact online with friends. Devices will connect seamlessly so that data is transferred automatically from computer to mobile phone, for instance. “When you take a photo, it will show up where you want it to show up,” he said.

The software billionaire has used the annual Consumer Electronics Show to unveil products such as the Windows operating system and the Xbox 360 game console. But his visionary predictions have not always led to commercial success, as in the case of the touch-screen tablet computer.

In contrast, Apple Inc’s touch-screen iPhone and Nintendo’s Wii motion-sensing video game, which allows players to connect wirelessly to the screen, have won popular acclaim.

Providing a glimpse into the future, Mr Gates demonstrated a device called a Microsoft Surface that embeds a computer in a table top, showing how he could customise a snow-board in a shop. Just by running his fingers over the counter, he designed a snowboard with different colours and patterns. When he was happy with the result, he placed his mobile phone on the surface. The counter-top computer recognised the phone and wirelessly downloaded the design to the web.

Mr Gates’s presentation was met by some scepticism because of Microsoft’s failure to unveil any big new innovations at the show.

“Part of this has to do with Microsoft being tired of announcing new stuff that doesn’t ever materialise or shows up in a form very different than what was shown,” Michael Gartenberg, a Jupiter Research analyst, wrote in a web posting.

This is the video of his 11th and last keynote speech at Consumer Electronics Show (CES)

I have always been a FAN of him so I feel kind of sad for him, what do you guys feel about it ?
